About the Artist

Betty Segner has been a freelance artist for 30 years and graduated from Philadelphia’s University of the Arts, where she studied graphic design. She was intrigued by the historic floor cloth collection at the Winterthur Museum in Delaware and began making her own floor cloths for family and friends. In 1991 the Segners welcomed a daughter into their family and, after leaving her corporate position of 14 years, Betty founded Misty Productions not only to further explore the artistic styles she found fascinating but to spend time at home with her newborn. Based in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Betty has since worked with customers all over the United States.

While she began by primarily exhibiting reproduction colonial American designs at juried historical society shows and craft fairs, Betty’s work has broadened to include more contemporary, whimsical, and modern pieces. She also designs artwork on canvas place mats and table runners, wood and furniture, and metal music stands. Betty gladly accepts custom order requests and would love to hear from you.

“I can’t say enough about how wonderful Betty was to work with! I asked her to custom-design/make a personalized music stand for a Valentines Day gift for my husband, and my husband absolutely loves his gift … It’s obvious that she cares about her work and her customers, and I highly recommend you give her a shot if you’re looking for just the right gift for someone special in your life.”

Misty

Misty the Weimaraner was the beloved family pet of Betty’s husband and parents-in-law. When Betty was at University of the Arts, Misty would lie by her side as she worked on class projects at home. She also became a model and muse as Betty continued to train as an artist! Betty became a freelancer in 1991 and decided to name her business in memory of the family’s wonderful companion of 14 years.

Gypsy

The Segners brought Gypsy into the family when Betty’s daughter was 12, continuing the tradition of bringing up Weimaraners. Gypsy was a spirited, loving pup who was her mom’s constant shadow. When customers encouraged it, Betty would bring Gypsy on jobs to assist with mural drafting, help paint furniture, and provide company after Betty’s daughter headed off for college.

Bella

During the coronavirus pandemic, Betty found herself teaching art from home while running her business. On a lockdown walk she and her husband fell in love with Bella, a Mastiff and Black Mouth Cur mix, and immediately adopted the puppy from her foster family. Bella has ever since enjoyed banana breakfasts, backyard zoomies, trips to the farm store, snow balls, and lending a paw as Betty paints.

Painting Playlist

Music and art are both very important to Betty; she has always played music while painting and has created many music-inspired pieces. Her high school art teacher was a huge influence and played everything from classical to rock ‘n’ roll in the classroom. Later in life, Betty listened and painted as her daughter practiced the violin. Here’s a sample of some Misty Productions favorites.
